Thank you for building a better world with us!
Habitat's Knott Street development is located off of Fort Avenue and is integrated into an established neighborhood. The land was donated to us by a generous family who chose to honor their father's legacy by blessing the community with this beautiful tract of land. Habitat developed the land, extending the existing road and infrastructure and subdividing the land to make space for nine new Habitat Homes! The final home on Knott Street is underway and are excited to have you help us complete this incredible community!
What you need to know for a great day on the construction site:
- Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled shift to confirm registration and safety orientation. Meet at the trailer parked in front of 1521 Knott Street and let staff know if this is your first time volunteering with us.
- **Bring a refillable water bottle, wear closed-toe shoes, and dress for the weather**
- Work boots are ideal, but not required.
- Water and snacks are provided and are located at the trailer.
- If it's especially hot you're welcome to bring other items to help keep you cool and comfortable! Personal fans, misting bottles, cooling towels, etc.
- Shift start and end times may vary based on group participation and weather.
- If the construction site is closed due to weather or other factors, an email will be sent to the volunteers who have signed up for that date as soon as the decision is made.
- We break for lunch from 11:30-12. Lunch is not provided, but it will be noted on the schedule if there is an exception that day. Please pack a lunch or plan to get lunch within that 30 minute break if you are volunteering a full day with us.
- All tools and safety equipment are provided.
- You are welcome to bring your own tool belt, safety glasses, or gloves if you prefer. Please note that we cannot be responsible if personal items are lost or damaged.
- Please take care to not turn around in or block any of our neighbors' driveways. There is plenty of parking along the street where we are building and we want to be considerate of the homes and neighbors where we are working.
We can't wait to see you out there!
Thank you again for volunteering with Habitat for Humanity!
